Abstract:

Understanding the basic fluid dynamics of rotating convection can help scientists to better understand how the Sun and other stars work. In this paper, we explore the methods used in a simple numerical model of some of the inner workings of the Sun. Included are discussions of the computational and mathematical techniques used, and the results gained.

The mpeg movie above shows a temperature field diffusing at a constant rate.
