Services Available
CAC services are also described in our New Faculty Flyer.
Rates
There is no fee for Cornell faculty, staff, and students to use the following CAC services:
- Exploratory accounts – 100 HPC server hours
- Help
– general help to get you started on a HPC system and/or to answer the occasional question
- Research networks – access to TeraGrid and other research networks from CAC supported resources
- Proposal strategy and preparation meetings – initial discussions around how CAC can assist in the preparation of a proposal and/or play a role in a funded project.
All other CAC services requiring non-trivial effort or resource utilization – including porting and tuning, programming,
database design and deployment, HPC cycles, and storage – are fee-based and require a Cornell University
account for charge-back based on the amount of services used.
CAC charge-back rates are based on the requirement of full cost recovery with a Provost subsidy. Rates will be reviewed regularly by the Faculty Oversight Committee and Cornell’s administration, and adjusted on an annual basis, or as appropriate, to ensure equitable recovery of CAC costs, and no over-recovery.
Please visit Project Requests if you are a Cornell Principal Investigator that wishes to use CAC services.
Research Service Groups
Research Service Groups are staffed by research associates
who are funded by the grants that they support. The CAC director and assistant
directors provide Research Service Groups with technical and/or management support. The
CAC core maintains advanced computing infrastructure acquired by Research Service Groups.
Current Research Service Groups include the Computational Biology Service Unit
and the DISCOVER Research Service Group.
Industry
Business and industry may enhance their competitiveness by leveraging our capabilities and staff expertise
through Corporate Program memberships.
The Center will also help connect industry with Cornell’s world-class faculty and
research.
