Web Portal Design

Why Web Portals

Web portals are browser-based applications that securely connect researchers with data and/or applications driven by a local or distributed compute engine. The use of Web portals is expected to grow rapidly.

Web portals are used to:

  • access large-scale data repositories
  • deploy knowledge management (KM) systems
  • enable non-computer scientists to use high-performance computing as an everyday tool
